the secretaire drawer enclosing a fitted interior above three drawers on removable bun feet, 97cm wide x 45cm deep x 101cm high., (38.5" wide x 17.5" deep x 39.5" high.)

Footnote:
Provenance: This campaign chest was the property of Captain John Vander Host Rees 1834-1908. Served in New Zealand and was severely wounded in the Marori war at Waitara on 18 March 1861, he was rescued by Colour Sergent John Lucas of the 40th Regt (1st Battalion) South Lancashire Regiment, who was later awarded the Victoria Cross. The chest came back from New Zealand and resided at The Royal hospital Chelsea where Captain Rees became Captain of Invalids. Waitara was the first Taranaki war (1860-1861) Waitara is on the West cost of the North Island.
